How to get here

“Isan Survivor” provides a pick-up service from Nongkhai to the village where you will be staying. There are many transportations methods to reach Nongkai by the program start date, so choose the method you most prefer …

     Trains
From Hualampong train stain in central Bangkok you can easily find a train going to Nongkhai. It is also easy to catch the train from the airport, usually half an hour after the Hualampong train station departure time.
Two trains leave Bangkok for Nongkhai each evening, one around 7 P.M. and another around 8:30 P.M. There is also one morning train. The night trains are usually the most popular. They are quite nice and safe, plus most people manage to sleep fairly well on them. The cost is between 400 and 600 bath.
The train to Nongkhai is the Northeastern line. Schedules and booking for Thai trains.

     Busses
Many busses from quite a few different companies drive daily from Bangkok to Nongkhai. Most busses depart in the evening and arrive in Nongkhai early in the morning. We don’t recommend going by bus since it is such a long trip.
However, if you do want to go by bus - a direct bus to Nongkhai (and on to Vientiane in Laos) leaves from KaoSan Road at about 7:00 P.M. It costs 400 baht, and any travel agency on KaoSan Road sells tickets.

  Flights
There are daily Thai Air flights between Bangkok and Udon Thani at 6:15 A.M., 12:50 P.M. and 6:15 P.M. The flight takes 45 minutes. At the airport you can find vans that go directly to Nonghkai. In the last year many budget airlines have started offering cheap flights to Udon Thani. Look for flights to and within Thailand at
www.thaiairways.com You can book Thai air flights online at Thai airs web site.
